Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 174
Tonikaku Kawaii Fly Me to the Moon 174
トニカクカワイイ 174
Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:
Kagura examines the abandoned, hidden village. The girls look at what they think is the actual mansion, but it is sealed. Elsewhere, at an overlook of the real, ruined Kyoumaru Mansion, Nasa, Tsukasa, and Chitose somehow make their way to the building and inside. Tsukasa explains that the reason no one found her abode is that she had a fake mansion and village created nearby. As such, people find the fake village, think they’ve found the rumored hidden village, and leave.
Tsukasa states that the place has been abandoned for seven years, though Tokiko was taking care of it for part of that time. Nasa is worried about the condition of the futons after all this time. Chitose opens the exterior, sliding door panels in front of the shoji. This reminds Tsukasa of the past
Back at the fake village, Kagura tells the others that the village they are in isn’t right. After further investigation, she believes the real village is somewhere else. She thinks she knows a general location, so Hakase decides they should split up to find the place.
Thoughts/Review:
So, Nasa, Tsukasa, and Chitose are in an abandoned, somewhat ruined mansion, while Kaguya and company look for it in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 174.
Lack of Upkeep
One thing I don’t get in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 174 is why Kyoumaru Mansion is in such a terrible state of upkeep. Tokiko was quite wealthy, and her daughter is independently wealthy as well. So money is no objective. I can understand Tsukasa abandoning the place, but since Tokiko owned it, why didn’t she have folks work on the upkeep? Or were Aurora and Charlotte not privy to its exact location?
That aside, I wouldn’t want to sleep in a place that had been shut up for ages. Cobwebs all over probably mean spiders and bugs galore. Plus, old futons that haven’t been aired in ages are ripe for mold or mildew. Why didn’t they just bring sleeping bags? And then there are the holes in the walls and roof, at least from the outside. So there may be all kinds of damage or mold inside.
Also, I note that Tsukasa doesn’t say anything about getting the electricity turned on. After all the jokes about her worrying about her phone losing power, you’d think there’d be a joke about that here.
Kaguya
It kinda makes sense to me that if anyone was going to find the real mansion in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 174, it would be Kaguya. However, I’m reminded that Hotaru apparently found the place once before. Although maybe that was the fake house. But even if she was at the fake mansion, she should have known how to get in. I’m not sure what kind of rubbish Hata-sensei is trying to pull. Or maybe something was lost in the unofficial translation (which is possible).
That aside, since Hotaru apparently had access to the fake mansion at the very least, I’m surprised it was stocked with manga.
Back to Kaguya, Hata-sensei is keen on having some kind of meeting between the two. As I’ve mentioned before, this will be the third meeting, assuming they meet. Tsukasa’s desire to be left alone means her creating a fake village make sense. Outside of someone like Kaguya, it would fool anyone. And Kaguya seems determined not to be fooled. Here I thought the girls were just supposed to go camping.
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Hata-sensei does a bit of a red herring for a gag in Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 174. But the stage is set for an eventual third meeting between Tsukasa and Kaguya.
